Processed crafts in which everyone. makes the exact same thing do little to form faith in children. What I like about the first idea, is that children can retell the Passion Week story using the box and the elements they added to it. It’s the “re-telling or re-experiencing” the story that has significance.

The second activity focuses on the beauty of God’s creation, using a variety of flowers. If teachers or parents lead this experience slowly, they can point out the intricacies of flowers (stem, stamen, pollen, petals) and note that God didn’t create one type of flower; He made thousands and thousands. Spring flowers remind us of new life, just as Jesus’ resurrection does. The final product can be given as a gift as well.
